VELOCE TO SUPPORT GURSTON DOWN FF FEST

We are delighted to announce that Veloce Publishing is to support the inaugural ‘Formula Ford Fest’ at the award-winning Wiltshire venue. The ‘Veloce FF Fest’, catering for drivers entering 1600cc ‘Kent’ engine Formula Fords, will run within the Midland & Gurston Down Hillclimb Championship meeting over the weekend of July 23rd/24th.

Veloce already sponsors the Pre-1994 Kent engine Formula Ford class in the Gurston Down Hillclimb Championship, and fittingly the class championship was won in 2015 by Sturminster Newton-based Veloce author Simon McBeath in his 1.6 Swift SC92F. With some cajoling from Simon the organising club at Gurston Down, the South Western Centre of the British Automobile Racing Club, agreed to run the FF Fest, the idea being to gather together as many of these very closely matched, iconic single seater racing cars as possible for what is sure to be an incredibly tight competition on the sinuous but fast and demanding 1057 yard (967 metre) course. The Formula Ford class record at Gurston Down currently stands at 36.39 seconds, but that mark could come under attack in the extra heat of Veloce FF Fest competition!

As well as Pre-1994 cars, the Veloce FF Fest will also cater for ‘classic’ Pre-1982 cars as well as cars built from 1994 onwards so it is hoped to attract entries not only from current hillclimbers but circuit racers too from around the region. The extra support from Veloce Publishing is sure to increase the profile of the event.

Further information on the venue can be found at gurstondown.org and technical regulations for the FF class and the FF Fest can be found under ‘Competitor Information’.
