New! Veloce Publishing now has a 'Publisher' account on the newest site to merge books with online social networking. The site invites its users to make connections by exploring other user's bookshelves and encourages book discussion. The site has also launched bookrabbit.tv which features 'meet the author' videos.
Users can also shop with BookRabbit.com and another selling point of the site is that it offers free UK delivery on all books as standard. This, coupled with the fact that it incorporates networking, discussion and detailed reviews could give the site an advantage over giants such as Amazon. The communal feel of discussing books and sharing opinions is reminiscent of more traditional book appreciation, like that encountered in a book club, library or shop.

Creating a BookRabbit profile simply involves uploading a photo of a bookshelf and then tagging each book. Check out BookRabbit.com and find out more about Veloce books!





The site is very much in it's infancy but has informed me this, when i enquired what benefits the site could bring to a publisher account:

"The functionality that a reader and publisher has does not differ greatly at the moment to be honest, the main difference being that a publisher can generally make more detailed amendments to titles. However, the development team are currently working to develop greater functionality so watch this space!"

Mitsubishi Lancer Evo world record attempt

On Saturday 12th July at Castle Combe Circuit in Wiltshire the Mitsubishi Lancer Register (UK based organization for Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution enthusiasts) will be will be attempting to create a new World Record of having the largest parade of Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution cars.
The event will also be raising money for The Richard Burns Foundation, will be supported by Mitsubishi and a Guinness World Record Adjudicator will be in attendance.

The two-seater smart Fortwo was last week used at a Mercedes-Benz World event in Surrey. A total of 13 people squeezed into the popular car which is celebrating it's 10th anniversary. As car-cramming records go though, this attempt seems reasonably modest when compared to the 39 people who squeezed into an original Mini and also fell short of the 18 people who shoehorned themselves into a first-gen Smart in 2002.

smart choice made by Met Police

smart is helping the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) cut carbon emissions in London as they take part in the market trial of the fully electric, smart ed (electric drive)
The smart ed is powered solely by electricity and is charged using a standard three-pin plug and emits no CO2. It is incredibly economical and can achieve the equivalent of around 300 miles per gallon.
In very congested areas like London, the Police are confronted with different types of challenge in terms of maintaining a police presence, and they appear to be excited about the innovation that the smart ed presents.
