New! Alpine Renault – The fabulous berlinettes by Roy Smith
The berlinettes were fragile, beautifully designed, lightweight road rockets. For the first time, Alpine Renault enthusiasts around the world can read the complete history of these cars in English.
This important new book is not just for owners of Alpine Renaults, but for all those interested in rallying and its spectacular period of rapid development in the late 1960s and early '70s. Hear from the men who built the cars, some of the great drivers who became famous driving them, the team manager, the Rédélé family – creators of the car – and the mechanics who kept the cars going. The story covers the concept, the first cars, the early road cars, and their entry into competition on the European rallying circuit, with full charted documentary details.
The Alpine A110 berlinette was a car born to compete, born to win. This is its story.

Bonjour! Is this Italy? - A Hapless Biker’s Guide to Europe
By Kevin Turner

Following his dismissal from a job he never should have had, the author packs a tent, some snacks, and a suit, and sets out on a two-wheeled adventure across Europe. With no idea where he’s going, and only two very large and confusing maps to rely on, he heads out to prove that planning and forethought are the very antithesis of a motorcycle adventure.

WHEELER DEALERS CELEBRATES 100th CAR RESTORATION WITH VETERAN CAR RUN

Wheeler Dealer presenters Mike Brewer and Edd China will drive the restored Darracq 1903 in the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run on Sunday, 3 November.

To celebrate reaching the 100th car milestone on hit Discovery Channel show Wheeler Dealers, presenters Mike Brewer and Edd China will restore and drive their dream veteran car, the Darracq 1903, in the Royal Automobile Club London to Brighton Veteran Car Run on Sunday, 3 November.

To mark this incredible milestone Mike and Edd return to their favourite childhood film; 1953 BAFTA winning Genevieve, a charming tale of rivals who race to Brighton and back for a bet. The real star of the film is Genevieve, a Darracq 1904, and for their 100th build Mike and Edd will restore their very own Genevieve to run the 60-mile distance in the Veteran Car Run (VCR).

Mike said: “I’m so proud that we’ve reached this milestone. The Darracq is the perfect motor for us to celebrate the 100th Wheeler Dealers car – a car that’s over 100 years old itself. One thing is for sure – Edd’s going to have his work cut out on this one to make sure we cross that finish line!” Edd added: “I’ve wanted to work on a veteran car for years – the Darracq is an incredible machine so I can’t wait to get under the bonnet! It’s going to be a steep learning curve but I’m determined to get us to Brighton in style.”

Haynes International Motor Museum has lent Wheeler Dealers its rare 1903 Darracq for this special episode. The car is one of the most sought after veterans, an instantly recognisable forerunner of today’s motorcar, because of its connection with Genevieve. Built by a French manufacturer the car is well known for its innovative design and engineering.

Throughout the show Mike and Edd will draw parallels between this four-seater, front-engine veteran and the typical car in the driveway of a Wheeler Dealers viewer as they restore numerous parts to make the car road safe in time for the run, the world’s longest running and greatest motoring celebration.

In Wheeler Dealers, now in production for an 11th series, Mike and Edd hunt for rundown classic cars and transform them into sleek, gleaming beauties ready to sell on for a healthy profit. The 100th car special featuring the Veteran Car Run will air next year.

Available from Veloce! The Wheeler Dealer Know How! is written by Mike Brewer, cheeky chappie and TV's best-known car dealing expert. In a career spanning almost 30 years, Mike has seen and done everything when it comes to buying and selling cars, and having established a successful career as a television presenter, is eager to share his knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for cars.
Telling you all you need to know about buying, preparing and selling modern classic cars, this book guides you through the minefield that is the world of car dealing, and helps you avoid the pitfalls that await the unwary. Plus, with stories and anecdotes from Mike’s time in the trade, you'll gain a fascinating insight into the world of wheeler-dealing.
Packed full of information and tips, The Wheeler Dealer Know How will give you the confidence to buy the car of your dreams and avoid ending up with a lemon. You’ll find out how to prepare a car to expert standards – from cleaning, to repairs and improvements – and when the time comes to sell, Mike tells you how to get the best price and avoid being ripped-off.

NEW BOURNEMOUTH WHEELS FESTIVAL IN 2014

Forget the Monaco Grand Prix - the smell of burning rubber, screeching tyres and a throaty roar could be heard in Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens yesterday (15th October) as Schumacher’s Benetton Formula One championship car sped through for a demonstration and taster of what’s to come at the new Wheels Festival – 24-26 May 2014!

Launching this exciting festival in spectacular style, the magnificent F1 car was joined by an array of pedal powered machines and vehicles of every type. Mark Smith, Director of Bournemouth Tourism, said: “We are committed to investing in and continually enhancing Bournemouth’s tourism offer as well as providing a high quality entertainment programme for residents and visitors to enjoy.

“The announcement of a new event is already creating a buzz amongst local businesses because it will be based on a similar business model to the tremendously successful Bournemouth Air Festival, which draws millions of local people and visitors into the town over the four day event each year and makes a significant contribution to the local economy. This major new festival will further cement Bournemouth’s reputation as a premier destination and will be as valuable to the town as improving the quality of our outside space and attractions.”

Wheels Festival will use a similar business model to the hugely successful Air Festival, which is estimated to bring over £25million into the local economy, benefiting business while boosting the town’s profile. It will be funded through trading stands, sponsorship, and support from the local trade, as well as contributions from Bournemouth Council in addition to both the Town Centre and Coastal BIDs.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Des Simmons, Chairman of the Bournemouth Coastal Business Improvement District (BID) said: “We are proud to be the lead sponsor of the new Wheels Festival because we see it as a hugely beneficial addition to Bournemouth’s year round calendar of amazing events. It will introduce a new range of visitors to all that Bournemouth has to offer and we aim to use it as a key theme in the BID’s marketing to attract staying visitors next spring. It underlines how well the BID and Bournemouth Tourism can combine to make these innovative ideas actually happen, it meets our objective of bringing new off-season business and shows our commitment to helping launch major new events.”

The new Festival is expected to attract around 360,000 to the town, with a mix of local people and visitors coming to taking advantage of a top class event and world-class entertainment.

Andrew Francis, Chair of the Bournemouth Tourism Management Board, said: “Local businesses are very excited about having another high profile event in the town, helping to boost trade and increase footfall in Bournemouth. This event will be spread across various pockets of the town with town centre shows and parades. Expected to bring around 360,000 people to Bournemouth, this event will hugely benefit local businesses.”
